Your Rights as a Clinical Trial Volunteer: Consent, Data and Payment
What every clinical trial volunteer in India should know about informed consent, who can see their personal data, compensation, and how to withdraw from a study.
Volunteering for a clinical trial is a genuine contribution to medicine โ and it comes with rights that every participant should understand before signing anything.
Informed consent is a process, not a signature
You must be told, in language you understand, what the study involves, the known risks, and what happens to your samples and data. You can ask questions at any point, and you can withdraw at any time without giving a reason. Withdrawing never affects your medical care.
Who can see your data
On Clinical Study Passport, your full identity and documents are visible only to you, to a CRO you have explicitly consented to share with, and to platform administrators for safety and compliance. Sponsors never see volunteer identities. De-identified previews show only a candidate ID and basic eligibility facts.
Compensation and your records
Healthy volunteers are typically compensated for time and inconvenience; the amount is set by each study and reviewed by its ethics committee. Keep your own record of dosing dates โ your passport does this automatically โ because the washout period protects your safety in future studies.
